Brief Job Description
A CIHR-funded postdoctoral position is available immediately for a cell biologist to study the composition and function of the PAR-complex in regulating polarity and asymmetric division in muscle stem cells. The study will involve both gain-of-function and loss-of-function approaches to study the regulation of polarity in stem cell function in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The research will involve multiple experimental techniques including confocal microscopy, immunofluorescence, proximity ligation assays, siRNA transfections, small animal handling and surgery, and Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS). The candidate will join a large and productive laboratory with a highly multidisciplinary and collaborative culture.
Eligibility Requirements (Education/Experience)
Candidates with PhD training in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry are strongly encouraged. Postdoctoral candidates should hold a recent PhD (2021 or more recent) in life sciences and be committed to a career in science. Applicants should be well-trained in advanced biology, and with a track record of publications. The candidate should have a flexible and cooperative spirit with a strong commitment to team efforts, excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, highly developed communication skills, and a demonstrated passion for innovative research.
Contract Details
The full-time contract is for three years and is renewable. The minimum annual stipend is $47,000.00 with an excellent benefits package.
